After the completion of Colombo Port Expansion Project the Colombo South Harbour is situated west to the existing Port of Colombo comprising an area of approximately 600 hectares. The new harbor has 3 terminals each having 1,200m length and facilities to accommodate 3 berths alongside. The small boat harbor at the end of secondary breakwater has 400m length of quay wall. New buildings for pilot station and crew accommodation also constructed at the head of secondary breakwater.

1. South Container Terminal

South Container Terminal consists a 1200 m long quay of 2.4 million TEUs.

2. East Container Terminal

East Container Terminal has a 1200 m long quay wall, alongside water depth of 18 m and yard capacity of 2.4 million TEUs.

Port of Trincomalee

Trincomalee harbour is the second best natural harbour in the world and the available water and land area is about 10 times as much as the Port of Colombo. Trincomalee was identified to cater for bulk and break bulk cargo.

Working hours : 24 hour basis every day of the year, except on May Day, with only day light navigation.

Port of Hambanthota

Port of Hambantota is planned as a service and industrial Port and subsequently it could be developed as a Transshipment Port. Presently three ships could be anchored in the Port. Bunkering and Oil refinery facilities are already established.
